Building a Real-Time Risk Analytics Platform for a Leading BFSI Enterprise
Client: A Mumbai-Based BFSI Enterprise
1The Challenge
The Challenge
A leading financial services firm was running its risk and compliance reporting on a legacy stack that produced batch reports every 4 hours. In a volatile market environment, this meant risk desks were making decisions on stale data — sometimes more than half a trading session behind.
Regulatory reporting was also becoming increasingly painful: SEBI filings that should be automated required 6 hours of manual data wrangling by a team of 5 analysts each quarter.
The firm had attempted two internal modernization efforts over 3 years. Both stalled due to talent gaps in real-time data engineering.
2Our Solution
Our Approach
We delivered this engagement as a Time & Materials project with a specialized data engineering squad, embedded alongside the client's internal analytics team.
**Architecture** - Event-driven pipeline: trading and position data streamed via Kafka → enriched and aggregated by Flink → served from Elasticsearch - Grafana-based executive dashboards with sub-5-second refresh rates - React portal for analysts — custom filters by desk, instrument, and risk band - Regulatory reporting module that auto-generates SEBI-format CSV/XML on schedule
**Delivery Model** - 5-person squad: 2 data engineers, 1 backend, 1 frontend, 1 QA - 3-week sprints, with each sprint delivering a live, testable increment - Fortnightly review with the CRO and Head of Technology - Parallel run of old and new systems for 6 weeks before cutover
